Werribee Community & Education Centre has been successful in its submission to the federal government for Investing in Community Education and Training (ICET) funding. The project will mean a redevelopment of Wayaperri House. The project is funded by the Australian Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET).

On Friday the 29th October 2010, Werribee Community and Education Centre Inc. held a Recognition Ceremony to launch the Wayaperri House Redevelopment project which was funded by the Australian Government.
Werribee Community and Education Centre Inc. received $1,150,000 in funding through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training to redevelop Wayaperri House for enhanced training purposes.

The redevelopment has provided Werribee Community and Education Centre with double the classrooms it previously had and a fully commercial kitchen increasing the Centre's capacity to better deliver services to the Wyndham community. The new facility will allow WCEC to offer a range of pathways from its foundation courses to higher level courses.

A letter of congratulations from Senator Chris Evans, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations was read and the CEO thanked the federal government for investing in community education and training.

The building was launched by Margaret Campbell, chairperson of the Centre and guests celebrated the launch by enjoying some singing and dancing from the Karen community of Wyndham and refreshments prepared by the Centre's social enterprise, Saffron Catering.
